Alumni Story

Kellie Kaminskas

Kellie Kaminskas’ journey from grief to healing led her to write a book to help her son understand loss after her husband's overdose. Her writing process was therapeutic, drawing on skills learned at Gateway’s counseling program. Published in 2023, the book resonated with both children and adults, opening conversations about grief. Kellie continues to advocate for families affected by addiction and grief, guided by empathy and the hope to break the silence surrounding these difficult topics.
